Washington Butler was born in Puyallup Washington, was always interested in the arts. She performed at theater at her high school and also in community theater. After moving to Los Angeles, she studied theatre at the University of Southern California and performed as Belle the Princess in Beauty and the Beast at Disneyland for an year and one quarter. Her decision to leave college was to locate an agent for talent who would let her audition for film and TV. Butler appeared as a guest star in The TV program CSI: Miami. The year before, she was an actor in the Don Stark web-series Luke 11-17. Butler has also appeared in a frequent character on I Love Vampires, a web series. Butler won the leading role in the 2010 thriller about rape and revenge I Spit on Your Grave. The remake is a remake from 1978 of the beloved classic of the same name. Although initially she was not a fan of the film's brutality and sexual violence, she eventually came to be convinced of the film's feminist tone as well as its strong characters. Butler played Jennifer Hills who, following being viciously assaulted inside a cabin in the forest and gang raped seeks vengeance on the perpetrators. The film produced by Steven R. Monroe was launched in October of 2010. Butler started filming The Stranger Within with Estella and William Baldwin, the psychological thriller in Mallorca, beginning in November of 2011. Alongside New York City and Copenhagen The film was set for filming in Copenhagen Denmark. She also joined the cast of Treachery in which she was a film starring Michael Biehn. The independent feature film began filming at Los Angeles in early 2012. Butler co-starred with Michael Welch in 2013's horror film The Demented.
